The pharmaceutical sector requires suppliers capable of guaranteeing dimensional accuracy, process traceability and strict compliance with technical specifications. The Pontiggia Group designs and manufactures bespoke pharmaceutical packaging machines, managing the entire project from design through to delivery.
Each machine is designed to meet the dimensional and finishing specifications required by the customer, with in-house verification carried out through our quality control process. There is no room for tolerance in pharmaceutical packaging: for this reason, every stage of production is monitored by management systems that meet the sector’s specific requirements for traceability and repeatability.
We support our clients throughout the entire process, from defining technical requirements to the final validation of the agreed specifications, ensuring flexibility in customisation and expertise in every type of pharmaceutical packaging line.
Every project for a pharmaceutical packaging machine is overseen directly by our Technical Department, which independently manages the entire development process: design, work cycle planning and production. This approach enables us to optimise time and materials without any intermediaries that might slow down the project.
With over 50 specialist technicians, we handle both small batches – typically for pilot phases or niche production – and large-scale orders for high-capacity production lines. Every component is manufactured to the highest standards of precision, professionalism and versatility.
Gruppo Pontiggia’s pharmaceutical packaging machines are constructed using aluminium plates and in-house designed mechanical components, tailored to the dimensional and functional specifications required for each order. This direct control over the components allows the company to fine-tune every aspect of the machine’s construction, from the frame to the mechanical parts, without having to rely on standardised external supplies.
In the pharmaceutical sector, regulatory compliance is essential to ensuring quality, safety and efficacy. Gruppo Pontiggia adheres to the highest standards, such as ISO certifications, for the packaging and handling of products. These standards govern every stage of the process, ensuring compliance with current regulations and the highest levels of reliability. Thanks to a rigorous quality control system and cutting-edge technology, we are able to offer bespoke solutions for safe and compliant packaging, supporting our clients in maintaining high standards of excellence within the pharmaceutical market.
Our pharmaceutical packaging lines are designed to handle a range of product formats, including:
Individually packaged for single doses, with 3- or 4-sided sealing depending on the required format.
For powdered, granular and paste-like stick formats.
Production lines designed for solid dosage forms requiring blister packaging or secondary packaging.
Packaging solutions for single-dose or multi-dose liquid products.
Machines configured for non-standard package geometries, in accordance with customer specifications
Each machine configuration is defined on the basis of the product format, production volumes and integration requirements with the customer’s existing packaging lines, in direct collaboration with the Technical Department.
The best pharmaceutical packaging machines depend on specific production requirements. For example, blister packers are ideal for packaging tablets and capsules, ensuring optimal protection against moisture and contamination. For pharmaceutical liquids, such as syrups or solutions, bottle or vial filling machines are preferable. Sterile packaging systems, such as those for injectable products, ensure maximum hygiene. The final decision also depends on the scale of production and the product’s characteristics.
Pharmaceutical packaging machines must comply with strict quality and safety standards. Among the most important are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines, which ensure production complies with health regulations, and ISO standards, such as ISO 9001 for quality and ISO 14644 for cleanrooms. Furthermore, they must ensure full batch traceability, automated quality controls and, in many cases, compliance with the requirements of regulatory authorities such as the FDA or EMA, depending on the target market.
Automation offers numerous benefits in pharmaceutical packaging. Firstly, it significantly improves efficiency, enabling faster and more consistent production cycles. It also reduces human error, ensuring better quality control and greater compliance with regulatory standards. Automation also enables real-time data collection and analysis, improving batch traceability and optimising the production process. Ultimately, it ensures safer and more reliable production, with long-term savings on operating costs.
Every pharmaceutical packaging requirement has its own specific constraints: format, volumes and integration with existing systems. Our Technical Department is on hand to analyse your order and work with you to identify the most suitable machine configuration.
